It’s a lovely sentiment. The thing is, the rest of the world isn’t out there to teach us a lesson about our own life. Other cultures aren’t purposefully placed there to give the racist and bigoted person perspective.
That lesson can come from within and doesn’t need to come from that experience.
I won’t deny that traveling and seeing how other people live and focusing on the similarities rather than the differences does give that kind of new perspective.
The experience is a good one, it stops something from being unknown.
But to expect other cultures to be there solely for our own ‘exotic growth experience’ is a little unfair on those cultures.
I don’t mean it in an offensive manner, I just mean that people are people, and it’s kinda rude to go overseas and expect the cute and whimsical cultural experience as depicted in this comic.
HEARTBREAK SUICIDAL HOTEL
It is an abandoned Hotel whose real name is lost but is affectionately called “suicide hotel” The Tequendama falls are the most popular place to commit suicide and apparently there were a lot of folks who spend their last night at the hotel. Many Colombians are very superstitious and when word got out.. business went down… and they closed. So goes the rumor.
